He came down in human flesh for one purpose, to save us from the death we brought upon ourselves. He came loving, healing and teaching. He came with purpose for all and began knocking at the hearts of man. He was the friendly stranger offering hope. He was already aware of his coming rejection, yet he knocked. Man kept the door to his heart closed and mocked him, spit on him ... crucified him.
Christ did not run or defend himself when falsely accused because he knew it was not his sins he was dieing for.(He had not sinned.) He took it so the world may come to know him and be saved. As they mocked and killed him, Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."...(Luke 23:34)
He defeated death when he raised himself from the grave and now he is always knocking and waiting for you to accept his gift and be blessed. While we mock him in our hearts he stands there, waiting...hoping...asking us to accept the more abundant life he wants for us.
For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. (Romans 5: 17)
